Terms of Use & Disclaimer

Last updated: October 30, 2026

Please read these terms before using DIYFixIt.tech. By using this site, its AI diagnostic tool, its guides or the videos it shows, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

Read This First: DIY Repair Is at Your Own Risk

DIYFixIt.tech (“DIYFixIt,” “we,” “us”) is run by an individual, its owner and operator. The site offers troubleshooting guidance, an AI-powered diagnostic tool and links to third-party repair videos for appliances, vehicles, computers, printers, routers and other devices. All of it is for general information and education only. It is not a substitute for inspection, diagnosis or repair by a qualified, licensed professional.

Repair work can cause serious injury, death, fire, flooding and property damage. If you choose to do any repair yourself, you do so entirely at your own risk. If you are unsure about any step, if what you see does not match the guide or video, or if you feel uncomfortable, stop and call a qualified technician.

In an emergency, do not use this site. If you smell gas, see smoke or fire, hear a carbon monoxide alarm, or someone is hurt, get to safety and call 911 or your local emergency number.

Who May Use This Site

You must be at least 18 years old to use the AI diagnostic tool or to carry out any repair described on this site. Anyone younger should only work on any device with a parent or guardian who has read these terms and is supervising.

High-Risk Work: Know the Dangers

Many repairs covered on this site involve hazards that can injure or kill, including:

  • Electricity. Household appliances run on 120 or 240 volts, and some parts can hold a dangerous charge even after they are unplugged. Disconnect power at the plug or the breaker before opening any appliance.
  • Natural gas and propane. Gas appliances can leak, cause an explosion, or produce deadly carbon monoxide. If you smell gas, do not touch switches or plugs; leave at once and call your gas company or 911 from outside.
  • Vehicles. A vehicle can fall off a jack and crush you. Never work under a vehicle held up only by a jack; use rated jack stands on solid, level ground. Engines, exhausts, coolant and brakes can be extremely hot, and fans and belts can start or move without warning.
  • Batteries. Car batteries contain acid and can explode. Lithium batteries in laptops, phones and tools can catch fire if they are swollen, damaged, punctured or charged the wrong way.
  • Refrigerant, fluids and chemicals. AC refrigerant can cause frostbite and eye injury. Coolant, brake fluid and many cleaners are poisonous, especially to children and pets.
  • Stored spring energy. Garage door springs, their cables and other spring-loaded parts are under extreme tension and can cause severe injury.
  • Heavy and moving parts. Appliances and vehicle parts are heavy, have sharp edges and pinch points, and can tip over or move unexpectedly.

Work You Should Never Do Yourself

Some jobs should only be done by a licensed or certified professional, no matter what any guide, video or AI response on this site appears to suggest:

  • Installing, disconnecting or repairing gas supply lines and fittings.
  • Adjusting, replacing or releasing garage door torsion springs and their cables.
  • Airbags, seat belt pretensioners and other parts of a vehicle’s safety restraint system.
  • High-voltage systems on hybrid and electric vehicles, usually marked by orange cables.
  • Opening or repairing a sealed refrigerant system beyond a consumer recharge can; in the United States this work requires EPA certification.
  • Electrical panel, household wiring or circuit work that your local code requires a licensed electrician to do.

Brakes, Steering, Tires and Other Safety-Critical Systems

A mistake on brakes, steering, suspension, tires or wheels can cause a crash that injures or kills you, your passengers and other people on the road. If you work on any of these systems, you alone are responsible for the safety and roadworthiness of your vehicle. Have a qualified mechanic inspect the work before driving on public roads, test it first at low speed in a safe place, and never drive a vehicle with a known brake, steering or tire problem.

Laws, Codes, Permits, Warranties and Recalls

  • Some repairs legally require a licensed professional or a permit, and the rules vary by state and city. You are responsible for following the laws and codes where you live. Renters should check their lease and landlord, and homeowners their HOA, before doing any repair.
  • Doing a repair yourself may void your manufacturer’s warranty. Check your warranty before you start.
  • Your appliance or vehicle may be under a safety recall that gets it fixed for free. Check the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission at cpsc.gov for appliances and NHTSA at nhtsa.gov/recalls for vehicles.

Our AI Diagnostic Tool

Our AI diagnostic tool generates responses from general knowledge about the devices it covers and from what you tell it. It cannot see, hear or test your device. It has no access to your device’s service history, live diagnostic data or a guaranteed-current parts database. Its responses are suggestions to guide your troubleshooting, not a certified diagnosis, and not a guarantee that following them will fix your problem or is safe for your specific device.

AI can be wrong, and it can state wrong information with confidence. Always confirm that what the tool describes matches what you actually see on your own device before acting, and stop if anything does not match. The tool’s safety warnings are not complete; the absence of a warning does not mean a step is safe.

What you type into the tool may be stored to run and improve the service. Do not enter passwords, payment details or other sensitive personal information. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Third-Party Videos and Links

Videos shown by our AI tool and on this site are made by third-party channels, not by DIYFixIt, and are usually not filmed on your exact make and model. They are offered as general guidance for the step being discussed, not as a precise, model-specific match. Compare each video carefully with your own device, and stop if what is shown does not match what you see. We do not control, endorse or guarantee the accuracy of third-party videos or websites, and we are not responsible for their content or for any result of following them.

Computers, Printers, Routers and Your Data

  • Back up your files before any repair or reset. Repairs, factory resets, firmware updates and BIOS changes can erase data or make a device unusable. We are not responsible for lost data, damaged or unusable devices, or security problems arising from following guidance on this site.
  • DIYFixIt is free. We will never call you, ask for remote access to your computer, or ask for payment to fix your device. Anyone who does so in our name is a scammer.

Damage to Your Home, Vehicle or Property

Repairs can damage more than the device itself: a washer, dishwasher or refrigerator water line can flood floors and cabinets; a dryer or wiring fault can start a fire; a vehicle can roll or fall; heavy appliances can scratch or crack floors and walls. Before you start, clear the area, know where your water shutoff, gas shutoff and breaker are, and keep a fire extinguisher nearby when working with heat, fuel or electricity.

No Professional Relationship

Using this website, the AI diagnostic tool or any video does not create a technician-client, contractor or other professional relationship between you and DIYFixIt or its owner and operator.

No Warranties

This site, the AI diagnostic tool, all guides and all videos are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of accuracy, completeness, merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. We do not guarantee that the site will always be available or error-free, or that any guidance will solve your problem.

Assumption of Risk and Release

By using this site and choosing to perform any repair, you understand and voluntarily accept all risks involved, including the risk of injury, death and property damage. To the fullest extent permitted by law, you release DIYFixIt.tech and its owner and operator from any and all claims arising from repairs you perform or from your reliance on anything on this site.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, DIYFixIt.tech and its owner and operator will not be liable for any damages of any kind, whether direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special or punitive, including personal injury, death, property damage, equipment damage, lost data or lost income, arising from or related to your use of this site, the AI diagnostic tool, any guide or video, or any repair you perform. Where the law does not allow this limitation in full, our liability is limited to the smallest amount the law permits.

Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless DIYFixIt.tech and its owner and operator from any claims, damages, losses and costs, including reasonable attorney fees, brought by anyone else and arising from repairs you perform, your use of this site, or your violation of these terms.

This site may show ads and may contain affiliate links. If you buy through an affiliate link, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Ads and affiliate links are not endorsements, and we are not responsible for third-party products, sellers or services.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Maricopa County, Arizona. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in full effect.
