Ask Our AI Appliance Repair Tech
Any household appliance, any brand: microwaves, freezers, ice makers, water heaters, garbage disposals, range hoods, window AC units, dehumidifiers and small kitchen appliances, plus the big ones. Tell the AI what yours is doing and it will work out the most likely cause, tell you whether it is safe to check yourself, and show a repair video when one matches. Free, no signup.
Tell us the appliance, the brand and model if you know it, and what it is doing. The more detail, the better the answer.
- Won't turn on or keeps shutting off
- Not heating, not cooling or not freezing
- Leaking water or not draining
- Strange noise, burning smell or sparks
- Error code or blinking lights
- Not sure if it's worth fixing
What our AI appliance tech can help with
This is our general repair tech for appliances that don’t have their own diagnostic yet, and for any brand. Tell it what the appliance is and what it’s doing. It starts with the free checks that fix more problems than you’d think: the plug, the breaker, a tripped GFCI outlet, a door that isn’t latching. Then it works toward the likely cause, tells you whether it’s safe to fix yourself, and shows a repair video when one matches your appliance and problem.
- Kitchen: microwaves, garbage disposals, range hoods, ice makers, wine and beverage fridges, chest and upright freezers, toasters, blenders and air fryers
- Laundry and utility: water heaters, dehumidifiers, window and portable air conditioners
- The big ones too: washers, dryers, refrigerators, dishwashers, ovens and ranges, garage door openers, Keurig and Roomba
For the appliances we have a full diagnostic for, the AI will point you to it: washers, dryers, refrigerators, dishwashers, ovens and ranges, garage door openers, Roomba and Keurig. Or browse them all on the home appliance hub.
Appliance Repair Questions
What appliances can the AI repair tech help with?
Any household appliance, any brand. That includes microwaves, freezers, ice makers, water heaters, garbage disposals, range hoods, dehumidifiers, window AC units and small kitchen appliances, as well as washers, dryers, refrigerators, dishwashers and ovens. If we have a dedicated diagnostic for your appliance, the AI will link you to it.
Is it free? Do I need to sign up?
Yes, it’s free, and there’s no signup. You don’t need to give a name or an email. Just type what your appliance is doing.
Is it safe to fix my appliance myself?
Many fixes are, like resetting a tripped GFCI outlet, clearing a jammed garbage disposal with the power off, or fixing a freezer door seal. Some jobs are not DIY, and the AI will say so: anything inside a microwave case (the high-voltage capacitor can kill even when unplugged), refrigerant and sealed-system work, and gas leaks. If you smell gas, don’t flip any switches. Leave the house and call the gas company or 911 from outside. Always unplug the appliance or turn off its breaker before taking any panel off.
When should I call a technician instead?
When the fix involves gas lines, refrigerant, the inside of a microwave, or wiring you’re not comfortable with, or when you’d need special tools. Even then, the AI helps: you’ll know what’s likely wrong before the tech arrives, which makes it harder to be oversold.
Why didn’t the AI show me a video?
It only shows a video when the video is for the same kind of appliance and the same problem as yours. A video for a different appliance can send you down the wrong path, so when nothing matches, it gives you the steps instead. We add new videos as people ask about new appliances.
Is it worth repairing, or should I replace it?
A common rule of thumb: if the repair costs more than half the price of a new one, or the appliance is near the end of its usual life, replacing usually makes more sense. Countertop microwaves are a good example, since most are cheaper to replace than repair. Tell the AI the age and the problem, and it will give you an honest answer.
Do you keep what I type?
We keep the conversation, without your name or email, so we can see which appliances and problems people need help with and improve the tool. Please don’t type personal information like your address or phone number. See our Terms of Use & Disclaimer.
